Shalom and Welcome to Israel!
You have medical insurance under the CHAI STUDENT INSURANCE plan. This plan offers the best of both worlds – medical coverage through the Israel Kupat Cholim system, together with our specialized private care.
1) Coverage is through Kupat Cholim Meuchedet, one of Israel’s leading national health insurance plans. After arrival, you will receive a Meuchedet card, entitling you to obtain medical treatment at your local Meuchedet clinic and at Meuchedet clinics country wide. Click here for Meuchedet website
2) Coverage is according to the Israel Health Basket of medical services.
This includes:
- All doctor / specialist visits
- Emergency / urgent hospitalization and ER (In most cases, a referral from Meuchedet is required, otherwise you may have to submit full payment)
- Prescription medication
- Laboratory and x-ray services
- Emergency ambulance coverage (coverage is only applicable if participant was hospitalized)
- 24/7 call center.
- Telemedicine services.
Please note:
- There is a small deductible for medication and some medical services. This deductible is paid by the student. Details
- There are certain medications and conditions which may require signing a waiver and that would exclude those things from the policy.
- Exclusions: dental care, eyewear, pregnancy and birth, mental health conditions, work related accidents, motor accidents (covered by Israeli law) and extreme sport, drug / alcohol related accidents and illness.
- Covid 19: There is full coverage for Covid – 19 including vaccinations where necessary.

- The following plan applies to students between ages 18-35. Students under the age18 will be covered through Harel insurance, Please note: All student turning 18 before February will be automatically applied to Meuhedet. Any other student that will not be excepted to Meuhede due to (pre-existing condition) beyond this date will remain with the coverage through Harel insurance until the end of the school year. - Once a policy has been paid for, there is a $50 refund processing fee for any cancellations. Once the policy has been activated, there is a minimum of six months which is mandatory by Meuchedet. Refunds are relative to the unused portion of the policy.
3) PEACE OF MIND: Our staff will work together with the Meuchedet services. We will provide an English speaking back-up for any problems in making appointments or for serious medical conditions. An important feature we offer is having an English-speaking nurse/PA visit the seminary/yeshiva twice weekly, as well as telemedicine services where necessary.
Our medical director, Dr. Lazar Fruchter, will coordinate with medical services, student and family in case of need.
4) You will need to submit a copy (picture) of your current passport's front page with this application - please be sure to have it on hand. If you are in the process of renewing your passport, you can still apply with your old passport BUT, you must email us a copy of the updated passport when you receive it.
5) If your health status changes in any way after you have filled out your application, please notify us IMMEDIATELY!!!
